Art in public places is a project coordinated by Hobsons Bay City Council in partnership with the Bayside and Williamstown Festivals as a municipal wide event that exhibits the artwork of western region artists and businesses and various venues across Hobsons Bay.

Over the last two years the Arts in Public Places program has been a popular part of the Williamstown Festival. Hobsons Bay is proud to support western regions artists, cultural groups and local business through the Art and Public Places program.

A gala open venue evening will occur on the Friday 11th April to coincide with the opening of Williamstown festival 2008.

The Port of Melbourne Corporation Fireworks Spectacular is a long-term signature component of the Williamstown Festival. Taking place on the Saturday night of the Festival on the Commonwealth reserve foreshore.
The fireworks will highlight the main evening of the Festival program, Saturday night. The show will be a family friendly event, one to delight and excite, a true treat.

Williamstown Festival brings you the Altona Gate Shopping Centre Hobsons Bay Community Tube… a short video and photography competition showcasing the visualizations of the Hobson’s Bay communities vast ideas of Williamstown Festival 2008…

Stills, 30 seconds, 60 seconds, & 3 minute videos from two categories; Schools & Open, will encapsulate your visions of the Williamstown festival…

Submissions to be entered at the Community Tube HUB within the 2008 Williamstown Festival precinct from Saturday 10am April 12th, 2008… But no later than 5 pm on Sunday April 13th, 2008.

The finalists will be exhibited at Altona Gate Shopping Centre from Tuesday 15th, April 2008 where you can vote for your favourite with the Awards presentation taking place in Altona Gate Shopping Centre at 3 pm on Saturday, April 19 2008 ...

So get out there and capture your Willi Festival imaginings for the Altona Gate Shopping Centre Hobson’s Bay Community Tube…

 Outdoor Sun Theatre Screening

THE SUN THEATRE have generously sponsored an outdoor staging of a contemporary main feature film (yet to be disclosed).To be viewed on the foreshore of Commonwealth Reserve, in the evening of Friday 11th.   Point Gellibrand Rotary Club Fun Ride   

Clowning Around The Town

8:00 – 8:30 am start 13th April 2008


As part of our new special events we are staging the “Çlowning Around The Town’ Bicycle Fun Ride generously sponsored by the Point Gellibrand Rotary Club.

The ride will be conducted around the Williamstown, Williamstown North and Newport areas and is scheduled for Sunday the 13th of April, 2008 starting between 8:00 am & 8:30am. The Point Gellibrand Rotary Club will marshal the event as well as put on a cooked breakfast of sizzling sausages, bacon and eggs at the finish.

Hobsons Bay Yacht Club

Hobsons Bay Yacht Club will open its doors to the public on Saturday 12th April from 1pm to 6pm and on Sunday 13th April from 1pm to 6pm. HBYC through volunteer skippers and crew will offer the public free half hour sailing experiences on the bay during this time, the bar will also be open and staffed with live entertainment on Sunday.

Canon Re-Enactment

Experience the thrill of the cannon-firing tradition when the Historical Re-inactment Society of Victoria stages a musket drill and canon firing re-inactment.

 

Health and Wellbeing Quarter

 

Tai Chi Sunday 3-4 pm.

Experience mediation in motion at the Commonwealth Reserve during your Sunday of rest and relaxation. Exercise your mind, body and spirit and harness your energies, instructed by the Williamstown Wu-style Tai Chi Club. Through graceful movements and breathing, feel the health benefits of Tai Chi.

 

Children’s Yoga Sunday 2-3 pm

Strengthing your child’s connection with their mind, body and spirit. Yoga enhances coordination, flexibility, strength and body awareness. The class is fun and gives children the opportunity to play, exercise and explore their inner self. Adults are also welcome to experience this natural and healthy way to exercise.
